Based upon my own observations and my own photographs of select city redevelopment projects, these documentary paintings of Houston's demolished history have been the primary focus of my work for the past few years. Specifically focused on Modern and later architecture, I chose to paint our city's rapid unbuilding of some of it's history during a time of exponential growth and new development! This idea was important to me because I believe we remember the past, are aware of the present, but pay little attention the moments of transition in-between. Recent additions to this series focus on intact structures before demolition as well as preserved landmarks.
